Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno state Sunday night in Bama distributed palliatives to vulnerable households in Bama to cushion the effect of hike in food prices in the country.
The governor also disbursed N5, 000 cash to the vulnerable women after he paid homage to the Shehu of Bama, Alhaji Kyari Ibn Ibrahim Kyari Umar El Kanemi at his palace.
Speaking to newsmen after the food distribution exercise, he stated that 25,000 men benefitted as each man received 25kg of rice and 25kg bag of maize, while 45,000 women benefitted as each received a wrapper and ₦5,000 cash.
Zulum also said he will convene a stakeholders meeting in the state to tackle food crisis in the state as the situation is becoming alarming and worrisome.
He also thanked the federal government for their continued support to the people and government of Borno state from the beginning the insurgency to date.
