Heartland want ACL ticket

Heartland midfielder, Julius Ubido, has predicted an African Champions League finish for the side at the 2013/14 Glo Premier League season.
The two-time Federation Cup winners rediscovered themselves from the poor start of the season to end the first round campaign in 10th position on 27 points.

Ubido, who was pivotal to the Naze Millionaires’ resurgence in the first round, said the Champions League slot is the most attractive ticket for the side as they head back to the field to complete the season’s campaign.
“We’ll continue from where we stopped the good work in the first round as we return to the pitch to prepare for the second round.

“Our task is well defined; we’re no more contented finishing among the best four but to fight hard to earn passage to play on the continent and right now we’ve a choice and colour of the ticket, the Champions League ticket.
“What it means is that we must finish the ongoing league season among the best two to qualify for the Champions League.
“It looks daunting but with the no nonsense manner we ended the first round what we need is to further raise our game and our target will be there for us to grab.

“We understand the quality of opportunities open to players playing in the Champions League and we want to avail ourselves to such wonderful opportunities,” said the Nigerian star to supersport.com.
Ubido believes his side did not perform badly in the first round but exceedingly happy that the side’s teething problem has been solved for better performance in the second round.

“We didn’t perform badly though it could have been better but given the initial challenges we faced I think we did well.
“I’m happy we’ve got off from our struggling and will surely take our rightful position in the second stanza, a position that will see us return to the African scene,” said Ubido.
Heartland will resume camp today after the mid-season break to commence preparations for the restart of the second round.
