Former governor of Niger state, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, has described the death of Prince Abubakar Audu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Kogi as “shocking and painful,” saying that the late former governor was a true democrat and bridge builder.
Aliyu stated this yesterday in a condolence statement issued in Minna by his spokesman, Israel Ebije.
He urged Governor Idris Wada and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to bear the irreparable loss.
He said: “Prince Audu was an asset to his party and would be missed for his wealth of political experience. He was a true democrat, a bridge builder and one of the most experienced politicians in the country.
“I received the news of Prince Abubakar Audu’s death with shock, but as a Muslim, we are thought to accept such situation as the will of God. As a believer, I know only Allah has the prerogative to life and death His death should therefore serve as a reminder that Allah can take life anytime he so pleases. Let me use this opportunity to call on Nigerians to continue to pray for our leaders.”
Aliyu said Prince Audu was the architect of “present day Kogi state,” adding that as the first governor of the state, he achieved a lot socially, politically and economically for the people of the state.
He urged the people of Kogi to remain calm and see the demise of the politician as an act of God.
He prayed Allah (SWT) to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss adding that they should be consoled with the achievements and legacies of the late politician.
