The Journalists in Zamfara state have been denied access to cover the annual budget presentation by Governor Dauda Lawal at the State House of Assembly.
The presentation was scheduled to hold at 10am on Thursday.
However, members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) correspondents chapel, home-based media as well as the press crew members have been bared from enterinh the main gallery to cover the event.
However, when the governor’s spokesperson Sulaiman Bala Idris was alerted on the matter, he quickly came out to mobilise the press but the DSS attached to the main gate refused to accept his request.
According to the DSS officer, allowing journalists to enter when the governor’s presentation of the budget was ongoing is illegal, warning his subordinate officers not to open the gate for the journalists.
Blueprint correspondent reports that the journalists have since left the state house of assembly complex.
