Halt the rot at Kaduna Muslim Pilgrims’ Board

Please permit me to draw your attention to the rot that is currently eating deep in the affairs of Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
My greatest concern is that if the situation at the board is not timely checked, it may get out of hand, and drag the name of Kaduna state in the mud.
The appointments of civil service personnel does not follow due process, as there are situations where a junior staff is appointed as head of an MDA with the senior staff reporting to him.

In Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board, grade Level 15 officers are reporting to their juniors on grade Level 14, for instance, while appointment and posting of pilgrim officers is the sole responsibility of the Office of the Head of Service, instead of the executive secretary of the board.

Similarly, the appointment of a female as personal assistant to the overseer is another evidence of corrupt practices. Since the inception of the Board, there had never been a time when a female was appointed as Personal Assistant to the accounting officer of the Board.
His appointing a lady personal assistant (who is also not married) has started casting doubts on the credibility of the leadership of the board.

The distribution of Hajj seats is another area that is riddled with corruption. For instance, while the overseer was granted approval to sell 50% and 25% seats, respectively for 2014 with the schedule to the various local governments, he quietly kept aside 220 seats, claiming to personally use them as local government sponsors, whereas these seats were reserved in the last 25%.

The stoppage of the recitation of Al-Qunut, which is a directive from His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, and the Bureau for Religious Affairs, Islamic Matters, Kaduna state, requiring all Imams of Juma’at Mosque to offer five daily prayer mosques across the nation, was stopped by the overseer in the board’s mosque.
