Gusau emir warns politicians on violence at polls

Emir of Gusau (Sarkin Katsinan Gusau), Alhaji Ibrahim Bello, yesterday called on politicians to eschew election violence, saying that “no meaningful development can be attained in crisis situations.”

The emir gave the advice while speaking at INEC stakeholders meeting on its preparedness to elections for the March 28th and April 11th elections in the state.
The emir called on the participants of the meeting to educate their families and relatives about the need to have crisis-free elections.

Also speaking, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olufemi David, said the command would do everything possible to secure electoral process as officers and men of will not condone any act capable of undermining the integrity of the election in the state.

Earlier, Zamfara state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Alhaji Abubakar Wara, said the commission was highly prepared and made all the necessary arrangements with security agents with the aim of credible elections in the state.

He added that the commission was committed to conducting unbiased elections as it was non-partisan and not established to protect any party’s interest.
