Gunmen yesterday attacked Jigawa state Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, and snatched one of his official vehicles.
The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa state Command, Umar Faruq Idris, said their men had been drafted across the state to track the official stolen vehicle of the Governor Sule Lamido.

Speaking to reporters yesterday through the Command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Abdu Jinjiri, said: “we received with shock news of a staff vehicle belonging to the Government House, Dutse.”
He added that “we received the news at exactly 9 pm that a Toyata Land Cruiser V8 driven by one Auwalu Mohammed was snatched at gunpoint by unidentified gunmen.”

According to checks by our reporter, car-snatching has become the order of the day in Jigawa as people from neighbouring states steal vehicles, especially those belonging to government and civil servants.
Reports said the vehicle was snatched at gunpoint from the driver by 9 mp within the Dutse metropolis.
However, DSP Abdu Jinjiri debunked rumours making the rounds that the command had ordered for the closure of all viewing centres across the state, saying that police authorities had no such power.
