Gunmen kill ex-Bayelsa commissioner

The Rector of the Institute of Entrepreneurship Studies, Bayelsa, Hon. Ayekeme Masa, has been shot dead by unknown gunmen in Yenagoa, the state capital.
The killing of the rector, who was also a former Bayelsa state Commissioner for Trade and Investment, is coming few days after a reporter with the African Independent Television (AIT) attached to the Government House was shot, although he survived the ugly attack from a suspected armed robber.
Masa, 64, and father of three, was shot in the early hours of Sunday in his residence along Plam Avenue, behind the popular Bolex lounge in the state capital.
Blueprint gathered that the killers of the deceased were already in the house when he walked in.
When he arrived home, he walked into an argument between his wife and the unknown gunmen and tried to escape from the building before he was shot.”
One of the security men on duty in his house said he heard the shots and came out of his cubicle to meet the injured body of his boss outside the gate.
It was gathered that Ayakeme Masa was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre where he died on Monday evening from the gun-shot wounds.
Spokesman of the Bayelsa state Police Command, Asimin Butswat, confirmed the incident, saying a team of policemen from the command had visited the scene and commenced investigation into the incident.
