Four soldiers attached to the Special Task force (STF) in Plateau state were reported to have been killed by unknown gunmen on Sunday evening.
A local source told Bluepr int that the incident occurred in Gida Bua village of Langtang South local government area of state.
The security personnel were said to have been ambushed by the gunmen while on a patrol.
A source within the community, who pledged anonymity, said nine of the soldiers were originally travelling in a vehicle when the gunmen opened fire, killing four, while the others escaped.
Chairman of the local government council, Mr Bendel Nancwat, confirmed the incident but appealed for calm, urging the indigenes to be patient while security men investigated the incident.
When contacted, the media/information officer of the STF, Captain Ikedichi Iweha, said he would get back to our reporter when he got the full details of the attack, but at the time of filing this report, he was not answering his calls.
