Gunmen attack PDP senatorial aspirant, kill nephew, orderly

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial aspirant in Edo state, Mr.  West Idahosa, on Wednesday, escaped death after armed men opened fire on his convoy killing his nephew and a police orderly.
Sources close to the politician disclosed that the aspirant was returning from the bank, where he had gone to cash an unspecified amount of money when the hoodlums struck few metres to his GRA residence.
Confirming the development, Public Relations Officer of Edo State Police Command, DSP Noble Owoh, said the incident occurred at about 1:00 pm on Wednesday, adding that the two killed men were in the convoy of Hon West Idahosa.
He gave the name of the slain policeman as Usifo David attached to the Police Protection Unit, Benin City.
Uwoh further explained that there was an exchange of fire between the armed robbers and policemen in the politician’s convoy pointing out that “the robbers particularly targeted a black Ford car in the convoy, killing the policeman and the politician’s nephew.”
The police spokesperson, however, said Hon Idahosa escaped unhurt and that police had taken possession of the attacked vehicle while investigations had commenced.

The ex-senator, while addressing a large crowd of PDP delegates from Kaiama, headquarters of Kaiama local government in Kwara state, advised them not to trade their votes for penny.
