Guber race: Delta APC denies adopting Okotie

The All Progressives Congress, (APC) Delta state chapter has denied adopting Chief Osiobe Okotie as its consensus candidate for the forthcoming 2019 gubernatorial election
The APC while debunking a recent report credited to its state working committee over the adoption of Chief Osiobe Okotie yesterday noted that no candidate has yet been adopted since it is has not conducted its primaries.
The party in a statement signed by its deputy chairman, Chief Cyril Ogodo, in Asaba on Thursday, described the allegations as baseless and practically impossible.
The Deputy Chairman said it was not possible for the party to adopt a candidate without the party’s primaries, noting that the said adoption was the figment of imagination of mischief makers who want to disrupt peace in the party.
“Chief Osiobe Okotie like every other party member visited the party’s state working committee to declare his intention to vie for governorship position in 2019”, Ogodo said.
Blueprint recalls that the state chairman, Prophet Jones Erhue, had following a meeting with Chief Okotie, disclosed that he had been adopted as the sole candidate since he alone has declared his ambition.
Prophet Erhue said Chief Okotie has committed his time and resources to build the party in the state and is therefore a credible candidate.
Acordding to a statement issued by the spokesman to Chief Okotie, Hon Sanco Ese, the chairman who was in company of the deputy chairman, Chief Cyril Ogodo, state woman leader and other members of the state working committee, the conclusion after an unscheduled visit to Chief Okotie’s residence.
“Since you declared your interest, you have been working with the leadership of the party on how best we can take over Delta State come 2019 and I must make bold to say that we have come here to thank you for making our party proud and also tell you that we have adopted you as our sole candidate.
The statement said the Working Committee had called on other aspirants to declare their interest. “He also called on other aspirants who may wish to contest to join hands with Chief Okotie to move the state forward”.
