Groups urge Tinubu, SGF to intervene in FNH crisis

A human rights organisation, International Solidarity for Peace, Human Rights Initiative (IS4PHRI), in alliance with Enugu State Network of Civil Society Organisations (ESNET) and the Coalition of Civil Society Workers and Human Rights Defenders (CCSHRD), have called on President Bola Tinubu, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), to intervene in the crisis ravaging the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Enugu, FNH, which culminated in the closure of the hospital’s School of Nursing.

In the petition signed by the president, Comrade Osmond Ugwu, secretary, Comrade Ugonna Ozor and Comrade Chukwudi Aniachuna of the CCSHRD titled: Call for your intervention and cause for thorough and objective investigation …, the organisations sued for a proper investigation to check the crisis.

The petition was addressed to the president through the SGF and copied to the Senate and House of Representatives committees, the Enugu state government and other relevant authorities.

The petition reads as follows: “Our attention was drawn to this ugly development by the media hype of what is currently going on in the hospital particularly development that led to the suspension of academic activities in the School of Nursing of the hospital.”
