Northern Youth Grand Alliance (NYGA) said it has concluded arrangements to embark on a 5,000 youth march to Jigawa state government house to appeal to Governor Sule Lamido to make himself available for the presidency of Nigeria come 2015.
Its National President and National Secretary, Comrades Mohammed Bello and Ahmad Mohammad, respectively, told reporters in Kaduna that the insurgency and insecurity rocking the country had made it imperative for the youth march to Dutse to seek Lamido’s consent “to rescue Nigeria from the grip of Boko Haram insurgency,” adding that “Nigeria requires a leader with proven track record of experience and integrity to provide good governance.”
They said: “We have taken up this challenge and have agreed that to satisfy the need for exemplary leadership that shall be the best choice going forward, a man that has towered above other shortlisted candidates like a colossus, after vigorous challenging and forensic scrutiny, is Alhaji Sule Lamido Governor of Jigawa state.
“Arrangements to embark on a 5,000-patriotic youth march to the Government House, Jigawa state, to challenge Alhaji Sule Lamido’s reluctance and convince him to make himself available to save Nigeria had reached an advanced stage.
Continuing, they said: “Alhaji Sule Lamido has a background and consistency of being a pro-masses activist, a soft sell to every part of
Nigeria, a leader that has the required dose of patriotism, courage, pedigree, experience, political savvy, a tested and qualified public servant, with a legacy of exemplary delivery of democracy dividends, is immensely qualified to lead Nigeria to where it belongs, greatness.”
According to the group, there is a consensus of opinion amongst patriotic Nigerians and the international community that the problem with Nigeria is lack of vision, robust political will and action to address issues; hence their choice of Lamido.
