A group under the aegis of Civil Society Group for Good Governance (CSGGG) has lauded the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) on the progress made in the Digital Switch Over (DSO) in the country.
This is just as Kaduda state recently launched its Digital Switch Over to join other states on the DSO launched by the federal government
The President of CSGGG, Comrade Dominic Ogakwu while briefing newsmen in Abuja on the outcome of their independent assessment of NBC said the move was to clarify allegations of poor performance in DSO and thereby passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the commission for the progress made in the Digital Switch Over.
According to him “We are commending the leadership of NBC for their tireless commitment to making Digital Switch Over a reality in Nigeria. It is a huge achievement in changing the television experience of the Nigerian people who deserve a better deal.
“DSO is a people oriented programme of government because it will create jobs and there is need to encourage those saddled with this responsibility to ensure all the 36 states are fully switched over before the expiration of the four years of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“We must support government effort and that is exactly what NBC is doing and we urged them to stay focus in their services to this nation. These are trying times for Nigeria and we all need to identify with selfless and dedicated leadership style as exemplified by the Director General of National Broadcasting Commission, Mr Ishaq Modibo Kawu, deserve kudos for his exceptional contributions to the project.
“Despite the huge economic challenges coupled with paucity of funds, the Buhari government is poised in working towards ensuring that all states are captured in the programme as soon as possible at the same time making it profitable for stakeholders in the media sectors,” he said.
