Taraba Peoples Assembly (TPA) and youth in the state have felicitated with its former acting Governor Garba Umar UTC on his 69 birthday, saying he epitomises a model of good governance.
TPA coordinator, Martins Andekin, in a press statement described Umar as an apostle of peaceful coexistence, whose influence cut across ethnic and religious divides because of his contribution to development of the state.
He said residents of the state would continue to acknowledge his wonderful contribution in stabilising the state during one of its most difficult moments in its history.
Andekin maintained that no amount of acrimonious and atrocious political hatred against Umar UTC could remove the reality and achievements of his tenure in the state.
Andekin noted that recruiting staff after many years of embargo on employment into the state civil service distinguished him as a worthy leader to be celebrated.The youth under the umbrella of Taraba State Students and Youths Movements (TSSYM) said its decision to always celebrate the former acting governor was in appreciation of his giant strides in area of education and youth developments.
TSSYM coordinator, Joseph Auta, said they have not witnessed any payment of bursary in the state after Umar UTC payment of about N230 million for three years.
Auta said youths in the state wished him good health and sound mind as he celebrates yet another year.
Also Spokesperson of the 2015 Taraba State PDP Delegates, Bala Gassol, said the people of the state were still mesmerised with his golden touch of governance witnessed in his two years administration.
