Group foils anti-Dogara protest in Bauchi

The North East Youth Progressive Forum has alleged that some politicians had mobilised youths in Bauchi state to stage a demonstration against the Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and implicate him as one of the sponsors of the recent tribal clashes between Fulani and Berom in Plateau state.
The group in a press release signed by its chairman, Comrade Aliyu Ladan and Secretary, Mr Bulus Gambo, issued to journalists yesterday also alleged that the planned protest was scheduled to take place in the state capital within the week.
“Therefore, we are drawing the attention of the general public to note that a series of meetings were held yesterday by some unscrupulous and coward politicians to dent the humble image and personality of the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara as among the people in Nigeria that sponsored the recent tribal clashes between the Hausa/Fulani and Berom in Plateau state in order to sabotage the effort of the present government of Nigeria,” the statement said.
While cautioning that such rally would cause chaos and promote hatred among the various ethnic and religious groups in the state, the forum reiterated that their political mentor is a peace loving person “who believes in the principle of justice and fairness.” “On a final note, we are still drawing the attention of the general public, especially our fellow citizens of Bauchi state to discard any rumour or action by some undesirable elements which might cause havoc or instability in our dear state, as our Speaker Dogara is a complete gentleman to the core who loves peace more than anything else in his life.”
