Group faults Ozekhome’s exclusion from Confab list

There is an uneasy calm in Edo state over the exclusion of Chief Mike Ozekhome’s name from the list of delegates to the national conference.
His name had been submitted to the Office of the Secretary to the Federal Government (SFG) by Afenmai Ethnic Nationalities as their representative.
They were, however, taken aback when Ozekhome’s name was conspicuously missing from the list of delegates recently published by Office of the SFG and replaced by a former Senator in the area, Yisa Braimah.

However, youths from the area under the umbrella of Kukuruku Youth Renaissance Network (KUKNET) are protesting the development.
The group, in a press statement issued in Benin City, by Mr. Theophilus Ibodeme and Tony Igebor, president and secretary-general, respectively, described Braimah’s inclusion as “illegal.”

KUKNET alleged that the former senator “does not have the track record to promote and protect the interest of Afenmai nationalities.”
He said: “We want to reiterate that the National Conference is not a tea party or a drinking Bar, but a conference for intellectuals and sound minds with positive track records to harmonise ideas and deliver.
“No man; no matter how highly placed can dictate in his bedroom; who represent Afenmai Ethnic Nationalities. We are wise enough to decide for ourselves.”
