Group expresses concern over impasse between Executive, Judiciary in Kogi

A group under the auspices of  “Righteous Onlookers Association” has  expressed serious concern  over the lingering crisis between Kogi State Government and the State Judiciary, resulting into the recommendation for the sack of the state Chief Judge, Justice Nasir Ajanah, by the State House of Assembly.

In a press statement issued in Okene by the patron of the group , Alhaji Ahmed Adoke which was made available to newsmen on Monday, the group called on the parties involved to adopt a political approach that will lead to amicable resolution of the impasse between the executive and the judiciary.

Alhaji Adoke said that it is most disturbing that Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and the Chief Judge , Justice Nasir Ajanah who are the principal personalities at the centre of the crisis are both prominent sons of Ebiraland who should ordinarily work together as brothers in the interest of the state.

He however wondered why both parties did not cash on the out of court application by the counsel to the state government (which was granted by Kogi State High Court, Koton-Karfi) to find a truce to the matter.

The NGO  appealed to the governor to consider the payment of outstanding salaries of judiciary staff as recommended by the Kogi State House of Assembly, in order to alleviate the suffering of the judiciary staff and their dependants.

The group also appealed to traditional rulers and well meaning apolitical Kogites to wade into the crisis.
