A group, under the aegies of “Vote Okezie Again (VOA), has called on Abians and residents alike to support the second term re-election bid of the incumbent governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, come 2019,
The President/Founder of the group, Elder Godwin Nna, drummed the support when the group paid a courtesy call on Sir G. C. Onyendilefu, the state Accountant General in his office in Umuahia.
Elder Nna, who enumerated the achievements of Dr Ikpeazu within the two years of being on the saddle as governor, said that he deserves a second term in office because the Ngwa-born governor has excelled in areas of infrastructural developments in the state and has given attention to the five pillars on which the foundation of the state economy is based: agriculture, commerce and industry, oil and gas and education.
He praised Ikpeazu’s administration for anchoring the infrastructural development of the state on these structures and solicited the support of AG/Permanent Secretary for the realisation of second term bid of the governor.
In his own contribution, the group’s Director of Media and Publicity, Dr Uwaoma Uche, emphasised that Ikpeazu must complete two tenures for Abia South Senatorial District same as the immediate past governors: Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia North and Senator T A Orji of Abia Central did for their districts, respectively.
Responding, Sir Onyendilefu thanked the group for the visit noting when one considers the various litigations Governor Ikpeazu was subjected to and how he came out unscathed, it became obvious that there were no ordinary victories, but of divine handiwork.
Sir Onyendilefu, who commended the group for their bold initiative, stressed that in spite of the lean resources at his disposal Ikpeazu has managed the state funds well within the two years that he has been the governor.
He promised to lend his support for the group while tasking them to be focus by ensuring that their objective is achieved without infighting among them.
The group later performed investiture on the Ngwa-born AG as the patron of Vote Okezie Again.
