The Niger state government has planned to plant 19 million trees across the state in two years in line with the green economy policy of the Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago- led administration.
The state Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Yakubu Kolo, stated this in Minna Thursday at a press briefing.
He stated that while the administration planned to plant 10m trees within two years, the World Bank would plant the remaining nine million trees across 10,000 hectares of land.
He said: “Niger state also plan to host the first green economy summit this month to make the state a green hub of the nation with stakeholders from the local, national and international front and they are expected to suggest ways to tap in from the bountiful resources of the state.”
