Special Adviser to Kogi state governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engr. Abubakar Ohere, has called on traditional rulers to interface with herdsmen in order to tackle unnecessary clashes with farmers in the state.

Ohere, who made the call yesterday in Lokoja during the third quarterly meeting of the Traditional Council of Chiefs, said the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello had invested much on the promotion of peace in the state.

He pointed out that the governor had approved the inclusion of the Fulani representatives at the local government area and state council of chiefs, adding that the Ministry was already working out modalities for the implementation of the new policy.

On the replacement and reappointments of chiefs, Ohere said those that “are qualified for the positions have been presented to the Council of Chiefs for consideration,” and urged the Council to continue to maintain peace in their domains.

Earlier, the Attah Igala and President of the state Council of Chiefs, Michael Idakwo Ameh Oboni II, noted that Governor Bello “is doing his best on the welfare of the traditional rulers,” adding that the Council of Chiefs “will always synergise with government to promote peace in the state.”

He commended the Bello administration for constructing drainages and roads across the state.
