Gov’s aide, Lawani disagree over Ortom’s APC exit

Special Adviser to the Benue state Governor on Media and ICT Tahav Agerzua, has said impunity, hijacking of the party structures in the state by one individual was part of what forced Governor Ortom, several others including state and National Assembly members as well as local government chairmen and councilors to defect to the PDP Agerzua who was reacting to a publication in a national daily of yesterday that was credited to former Deputy Governor of Benue state, Chief Steven Lawani, said governor Ortom’s defection was also based on popular demand by the Benue people who insisted that their interest was not protected in the APC.
He described some of the allegations made by the former Deputy governor as frivolous and only targeted to curry favour for free party ticket from the APC.
He said Lawani has the choice to align with anyone, even if such persons have shown clearly that they do not have the interest of the Benue people at heart, but certain to drag the governor’s into mud.
“Instead of concentrating on telling his constituents in the Benue south Senatorial district his qualifications for the seat and the agenda he would pursue if elected, he digressed by saying that the APC, forced Governor Ortom out on account of poor performance.
“Of course, by bashing Governor Ortom, Chief Lawani hopes to impress the owner of the party in the state in the hope that he would be given the platform to run on a platter of gold,” he added.
On Lawani’s comment on the Benue killings, he said it was true that the invasion started before the Buhari administration but that Nigerians recall his role as patron of Miyetti Allah, particularly his visit to Oyo state and what he said there, before he became President.
