Gov. Yahaya grants ₦500,000 to ease Hajj costs for Gombe pilgrims

In response to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON’s) recent adjustments to the 2024 Hajj fare, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state has approved a ₦500,000 subsidy for each of the 1273 intending Muslim pilgrims from the state.

This was contained in a press statement by the Director General Media Affairs to the Governor, Samaila Uba Misilli, in Gombe on Friday.

It stated that the decision “aims to alleviate the financial burden on pilgrims amidst the current economic challenges.”

Governor Yahaya emphasised the importance of ensuring that all citizens have access to religious obligations without undue financial strain.

“This subsidy is anticipated to facilitate a seamless and spiritually enriching Hajj experience for Gombe state pilgrims, fostering a conducive environment for religious activities despite economic hardships.

“The governor’s proactive measure underscores his commitment to prioritising the welfare of citizens, particularly in matters of religious significance, and sets a precedent for other regions to follow suit in supporting their pilgrims’ journey of faith,” the statement read in part.
