The Hope Arewa Development Initiative (HADI) has described the recent affirmation by the Supreme Court of Dr Dauda Lawal as the duly elected Governor of Zamfara State as victory for the poor masses of the state.
Supreme Court on Friday had ruled in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state governorship election petition filled by the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
Reacting to the development through a statement signed Sunday in Abuja, by its National Coordinator Adamu Mohammed, the group said the victory was indeed for the people of Zamfara state who have for long been strangulated by politicians who did not have interest of the people at heart.
Mohammed said the Supreme Court verdict had really saved the state, “considering the awe inspiring developmental success recorded within Lawal’s seven month in office.”
Of particular concern, he said was the meticulous way the governor was handling the challenge of insecurity in the state.
“This is a divine intervention, and we salute the Supreme Court Justices for proven that they are the last hope of the common man.
“HADI appreciates the fact that power is from God, but condemns in totality the clandestine moves by some political elites in the state to truncate what God has destined to happen.
“We have no doubt in our minds that the Rescue Zamfara Agenda of Governor Lawal has come to stay, and it will benefit the people no doubt.”
The HADI’s National Coordinator, however, expressed optimism that even if the re-run election were to be held, Governor Lawal would still emerge victorious considering what he has been doing since his assumption of office, adding “he is a God sent leader who has impacted positively on the lives of the people of Zamfara.
“As a true politician we commend Governor Lawal who after his victory extended hands of fellowship to his opponents. That is the hallmark of a great politician.
“They should throw politics aside and join hands with Governor Lawal to rebuild and restore the glory of the state.
“Let us reiterate that ‘We believe in the ability of Governor Lawal to lead Zamfara state with all sense of sincerity, Honesty and fear of God.”
Mohammed urged the people of Zamfara state to put all that has happened behind and rally round the Governor in his quest to develop the state and make it a destination of investors.
The group also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for being neutral during the whole process.
“His singuler act of non interference has proven that the independence of the judiciary is assured and this will deepen the nation’s democracy.”
