Gov. Buni buys 40 additional tractors to enhance food security

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has intensified efforts on food security by procuring additional 40 brand new Massey Ferguson Tractors to support farmers and boost food production in Yobe state. 

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Ali Mustapha Goniri, stated that the procurement of the new tractors aligned with Governor Buni’s food security programme, assuring the people that the state would be well-prepared to meet their food demands.

Governor Buni had last year distributed tractors and other farming equipment worth over N15.3 billion to 5, 340 local farmers across the state.

The initiative, according to, is to boost agricultural productivity, ensure food security, and stimulate economic growth in the state.

He emphasised the importance of utilising the equipment for their intended purpose and warned against misuse or sale and directed security agencies to monitor and prevent unauthorised movement of the equipment out of the state.
