Gombe: Yahaya unveils motor park named after Dankwambo

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state has commissioned the Dankwambo Motor Park, a project initiated by Senator Hassan Dankwambo.

Governor Yahaya while speaking during the commissioning on Tuesday in Gombe, said “This decision recognises Dankwambo’s lasting contributions to the state’s development and underscores a legacy of progressive leadership.” 

He said the project was left at 45% completion stage and highlighted the significant enhancements made under his administration in transforming the motor park into a state-of-the-art facility.

“In 2020, my administration revised the contract to a total sum of 7. 658 billion Naira, adding numerous features, including a vast 45, 000-square-metre trailer park capable of accommodating even aircraft,”  he said.

Continiung, he stated: “This trailer park, with its hard concrete surface, will meet the long-term needs of adventurers and is designed to withstand the test of time.”

Governor Yahaya detailed the comprehensive improvements, including the completion of civil works, roads, and water absorption tunnels around the Federal College of Education. 

The motor park, now capable of hosting over a thousand large vehicles and up to 5,000 vehicles, including the trailer park, features a clinic, a 40-room hotel, two mosques, a fire service station, a police outpost, and a mechanical workshop.

The governor announced plans for a 28-hectare mechanics village adjacent to the trailer park, ensuring all mechanical services are centralised and efficiently managed. 

“This ambitious project underscores the administration’s commitment to enhancing transport infrastructure and commercial activities within Gombe state.

“Since 2019, we have demonstrated a strong commitment to improving transport infrastructure, building nearly 800 kilometres of roads and preparing 100 new buses to facilitate movement across the state and beyond.

“We have also ensured that ticket prices remain affordable, even with the removal of fuel subsidies.”

The Sen Dankwambo Motor Park stands as a testament to the administration’s dedication to progress, safety, and convenience for the people of Gombe.
