A member of the Gombe state House of Assembly representing Gombe South constituency, Hon Mohammed Ahmed Bello, has under the auspices of Sarkin Arewa Bolari Foundation awarded scholarships to 60 students of his constituency.
While making the presentation in Gombe at the weekend, he explained that the package worth N10, 000.00 for each beneficiary, making a total of N600, 000 for the 60 students.
According to him, the Foundation was a charity organisation established to cater for the fulfilment of his electoral promises to the people of his constituency and the state at large.

“Part of my campaign promises was that I will give scholarship to tertiary institution students and based on that, after being sworn in a few months ago, I now feel it is high time I started keeping my words.
“That is why I formed this foundation called Sarkin Arewa Bolari Foundation to coordinate my activities geared at fulfilling my campaign promises to my people”, he said
He said the awards were chosen to enable beneficiaries channel it into proper use in institutions like Gombe state University, Federal College of Education and others, that were presently registering both fresh and returning students.
He said some beneficiaries were chosen based on his knowledge of their poor family background, while others were sourced through party stalwarts, using the same yardstick.
He said the beneficiaries would be increased to 100 or more in subsequent academics session and would continue as long as God provided the resources.
Bello said the foundation had already concluded plans for women and other youth empowerment programmes that would soon be flagged-off.
