Godfrey Okoye varsity to graduate 546 students 

The Godfrey Okoye University (GOUNI), Enugu state, will on Saturday, November 16, 2024 celebrate the graduation of 546 students at its 12th convocation ceremony.

Out of the graduating students, 27 will receive first-class honours degrees, marking the highest number of first-class graduates in the university’s history.

Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Christian Anieke, disclosed this  on Tuesday during  press conference heralding the convocation ceremonies.

He highlighted the achievement of the university since the last convocation to include, securing the approval of nursing school by the Nursing Council Commission of Nigeria, raised total number of programme to 83 programmes, 40 undergraduate and 43 post graduate programmes.

The VC also said that the university had completed the oxygen plant that could supply oxygen for hospitals in the state and built the best DNA learning center which is the first in Africa

“546 students are ready to leave the university and out of that number, 27 students made first class honours.   It’s the highest number we have had so far in graduation and highest of first class in our academic year.

“The first part of our narrative is that the College of Medicine has been accredited by the Medical Dental and Council of Nigeria for the MBAS examinations. And since the pioneer students are in their third year, they will be writing their second MBA examination by March next year. Also, admission quarter for Medicine has been raised to 75. This shows that we are the first University to write two MBA examination in second year.

“We have gotten approval for College of Nursing from Nursing Council Commission of Nigeria,” he said.
