Georgian Cup defending champions, Kaduna El Amin opened the defence of their trophy with a 7-5 victory over Kaduna Trapcco at the 2015 Kaduna International Polo Tournament which kicked off on Saturday at the Ahmadu Yakubu Polo Club Kaduna.
The match was watched by sell out crowd surrounding the Kaduna polo ground inside the Murtala Square Kaduna, and they were not disappointed as the two teams revisited their agelong rivalry which resulted in Trapcco winning African most prestigious trophy, Georgian Cup last in 2001.
Fielding Nigeria’s most rated player, Bello Buba, Ibrahim Mohammed, Patricio Cieza and Ali Hassan Hadejia, the defending champions gave their all to ensure victory that would put them in good stead to retain their trophy, but they were continuously thwarted by the Suleiman Abubakar sponsored Trapcco motivated by their desireb to take another shot at the timeless torphy.
Starring Ibrahim Abba, Suleiman Abubakar, Hamisu Buba and Gonzalo Bourdieu, the Trapcco side kept at it and ensured that the six chukker game remain competitive till the last chukker when they trailed 5-6 until a Bello Buba solo goal took the game further away from Trapcco in the last chukker at 7-5.
The Georgian Cup which has four teams competing continues in round robbing format.
