The speaker of House of Representatives, Rt.Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has assured the Islamic Counselling Initiatives of Nigeria (ICIN) of his support for the Internally Displaced Persons in Plateau State.
Speaker Gbajabiamila, gave the assurance at the ICIN 10th-year anniversary and fund raising for its new educational programme themed; “Help a child cross,” held Sunday in Jos.
Represented by his special assistant Hon. Hamza Ibrahim Baba, Gbajabiamila, said the plight of the IDPs is one major issue of concerned to him.
“Supporting out of school children is an important programme worth doing,” he said.
On her part, the Minister of women affairs, Dame Pauline Talen, said ICIN have over the years been shaping and reshaping the lives of women and girl child.
Represented by Mrs. Linda Barau, Talen further assured ICIN of her maximum support.
“Girl child education has remain a priority that we must continue to pursue, most importantly now that ICIN is out to help a child cross, we will partner to its success,” she said.
Also speaking, Secretary to the Government of Plateau State (SGS) Danladi Atu, urged the privileged elites to always support the less privilege in the society.
He said: “We must hold the hands of children so that we can collectively cross them over from poverty to sustainability.
“People must partner with ICIN, to achieve the desired set goal and objectives to help a child cross.”
Meanwhile, the executive director of ICIN, Hajiya Fatima Suleiman, said the unveiling of the new ICIN logo has ushered in new dawn for the education of out of school children.
She appreciated individuals, groups and organizations that have over the years supported the goal, aim and objectives of ICIN.
