Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has, Saturday, commissioned the newly constructed Gashua Ultra-Modern Market to boost commerce and the economic growth of the community.
Governor Buni said, Gashua modern market is one of the four modern markets his administration is constructing with others in Nguru, Damaturu and Potiskum.
He noted that,the state government is also awarded the construction of another one in Geidam town, the headquarters of Geidam local government area of the state.
Buni revealed that the market has 555 shops of different sizes, administrative blocks, mosque, parametre fence, road and drainages, water facility, parking lots, banks, fire stations and police outpost.
He further said, “The Market is expected to stimulate increase economic activities that will enhance job opportunities and income generation for the people and promote internal generating revenue in the state.
“This market is already registered as limited liability Company with their full pledge board of directors.
“I will like to therefore enjoyed the board and management of the market to both handle and ensure good utilisation of all the facilities towards realisation of our collective goals the purpose of providing the project.”
The governor named the Gashua Modern market after Senate President Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan in recognition of his valuable contributions to the state.
In his remarks, Lawan commended Governor Buni for the foresight.
He assured the governor that lawmakers from the state would continue to give their maximum support to the present administration.
