Gaidam engages 8, 000 diploma holders on N15, 000 monthly salary

Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe state has in the past two years engaged over 8, 000 Yobe state indigenes diploma and NCE holders and placed them on N15, 000 monthly salary through the state civil service as part of youth empowerment programme aimed at tackling the menace of unemployment and poverty.
Similarly, over 20,000 unemployed youths have also been recruited into the special skills acquisition programmes of the state and placed on a special monthly allowance while another set of over 2, 000 NCE, HND and degree holders had been engaged by the state government to teach in various state owned tertiary institutions across the state.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Press Affairs and Information, Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, disclosed this yesterday in Damaturu while fielding questions from newsmen on the efforts of the state government in addressing poverty and unemployment.

Bego explained that government was in the process of alleviating the youth and women in different forms as part of the poverty alleviation and youth empowerment strategies initiated by Governor Ibrahim Gaidam to cushion the lingering problem unemployed youths to boost the state economy.
The special adviser also said the governor had plans to establish a permanent youth empowerment skills acquisition centre that would be charged with the responsibility of recruiting and training youths, including women.
