The newly sworn in Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna, Prof Abdullahi Bala, has solicited the cooperation and support of journalists in ensuring successful tenure.
Prof Bala stated this at the weekend in a dinner with media men, organised by his predecessor, Prof Musbau Akanji, in Minna.
He explained that the relationship between his predecessor and the press had been very robust in the past five years, adding: “I want the members of the press to extend a more robust relationship to me, which is important for success in office.”
He said that the management of the institution considered media practitioners as partners in progress, adding that his doors were open to them for verification of news before going to press.
In a remark, the out-gone Vice Chancellor, Prof Akanji, thanked reporters in the state for the objective and balanced reporting of the university programmes and appealed to them to extend same hands of fellowship to the new VC and the university community.
He also thanked the media for the success story of the institution, hoping that the existing cordial relationship would be sustained.
