The Kullen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has called on herders across the country to exercise restraint and avoid destroying farmers’ crops during the ongoing harvesting season.
In a press statement issued Friday by KACRAN’s national president, Khalil Mohammed Bello, said the Association emphasised the importance of peaceful coexistence between herders and farmers, and urged its members to respect the hard work of agricultural communities.
He commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for his peace initiative, “which has brought together stakeholders, including pastoralist leaders, security operatives, local government chairmen and emirs to find lasting solutions to the farmers, herders’ conflicts in the state.
“We also appreciated the effort of Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and North East Development Commission (NEDC) for the sustained support and cooperation to the herders and citizens at large,” Bello said.
The Association appealed to its members to be law-abiding citizens and to support the government and security forces in maintaining peace and unity across the country.
