Friends, associates fete Adeboye @58, as he emerges Herald GM

Editor of Herald newspapers, Mr Yomi Adeboye, has been appointed acting General Manager of the age long media outfit established by the Kwara state government in October 1973.

Adeboye’s appointment followed the removal of the immediate past General Manager of the media house, Alhaji Abdulrasaq  Adebayo last week Wednesday  by the Kwara state governor, AbdulRahaman Abdulrasaq along with other heads of the state owned media outfit.

The state governor in a statement issued on his behalf by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Alhaji Murtala Olanrewaju, directed all the removed media house bosses to hand over to the most senior official in their various units.

Though due to the directive, out gone General Manager of the Herald, Abdulrasaq Adebayo handed over to the Advert Manager, Mrs Falilat Olaoye on Friday for being the most senior ( Level 17 Officer), but being not on editorial line , the State Commissioner for Information , quashed the appointment on Saturday through a fresh statement ordering the Editor to step in,  as Acting General Manager of the media outfit

The appointment of Adeboye as the new boss of Herald in acting capacity coincides with his 58 birthday celebration which made  friends and associates to fete him at a dinner event organised for that purpose by the former commissioner for information in the state, Alhaji Raheem Adedoyin.

Dignitaries at the dinner included Senator  Lola Ashiru, representing Kwara South senatorial district at the National Assembly, Arc Kale Belgore, Senior Advisor and Counsellor to the Executive Governor of Kwara state, Prof. Femi Ogunsola, former Commissioner for Education in Kwara and immediate past member of the Federal Character Commission, veteran journalist, Mallam Tunde Mohammed.

The guests also included the Head of Department of History and International Relations, Dr. Bashir Ibrahim, Public Health Specialist, Prof. Babatunde Opabola, the newly appointed acting General Manager of Kwara State Television Authority, eminent journalist and director of information services, University of Ilorin, Alh. Abdulganiyu Kunle Akogun, popular journalist and publisher of Tabloid Magazine, Alh. Tunde Bakare, his younger colleague and CEO of Insight Fresh Media, Rev/ Evang Adebayo Olaolu, public analyst, Mrs Glory Opeyemi.

Representatives of the youth also joined the celebration. They included John Adegboye, Ahmed Akorede, Saeed Tijani, Wasiu Toyin,  Moses Adefaye and Sharafadeen Abdulquadri.
