At least one person was wounded on Friday when a diesel tanker felled in a ditch beside Army gate fence and spilled contents along the Onitsha-Awka road, Onitsha, Anambra state.
Blueprint gathered that trouble started when the tanker which just returned from Warri station had parked waiting to discharge contents in filling a station but suddenly rolled back and failed.
An eye witness, Emmanuel Onyia, told Blueprint that the incident occurred at about 7:00 am, leaving many scampering for safety although it did not explode.
Onyia added that the injured who is the driver had jumped through the window when the incident occurred and got wounded on his head.
The Anambra State Fire Director, Mr Chukwudi Chiketa, who confirmed the incident explained that the firemen have controlled the situation, noting that possibly caused of the falling was because the owner forgot to apply hand break or wedge the tyres.
According to him, the driver who was injured was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention while the diesel content was emptied.
