Following the inauguration of the Committee saddled with the responsibility of distributing free schools uniforms to pupils across all the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, led by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftain cy Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Tajo Othman yhe Committee has returned excess N100 m to the coffers of the State Government.
Speaking to newsmen on governor Abba Kabir Yusuf administration’s vision and mission on key projects plans in Kano Friday, Othman said the governors mission and vision were based on the premise of accountability and absolute trust which guided the workings of the Committee that saw the compelling need to return the excess fund to the coffers of the State government.
According to him reviving the education sector to thrive has been a major cardinal thrust of governor Yusuf administration and that it had taken the bull by the huns in making the sector formidable and vibrant adding that all the key projects in the pipeline have been designed to restore sanity to the Local Government administration in the State
He said: the government is fully committed to spreading it’s tentacles to all the 44 local Government Areas in the State knowing that they were more closer to the people at the Grassroots. The administration is also committed to exploring avenues for sustainable economic development.
“It is also part of the administration plan to embark on the construction of 5km feeder roads to be properly executed across all the 44 Local Government Areas in the State. reviving micro finance is an issue the State government had taken seriously on addition to lending credence to the issue of Information and Communication Technology,” he added
“It is also part of our resolve to pay greater attention to agriculture for the issue of food security to be enhanced and sustained with the issue of water supply to the rural populace also given a discernible face lift,” he remarked.
“To this end, a whooping sum would soon be allocated for the speedy execution of the projects put in the pipeline while the concept of monitoring and evaluation would be vigorously pursued for quality assurance to be ensured, he affirmed.
He however expressed optimism that with the calibre of governor Yusuf’s cabinet coupled with the priority he attached on high productivity and effective service delivery, achieving the desired objectives would never be a far cry he concluded.
