Foundation provides free medical care for 1,200 persons in Delta

Dr Isioma Okobah Foundation in collaboration with the Delta State Primary Healthcare Development Agency has commenced a two-day free medical treatment in Igbodo community, Ika North-east local government area of the state.

The organiser, America-based medical practitioner, Dr Isioma Okoba, stated that the outreach which commenced Wednesday said over 500 people receive free treatment on daily basis.

She said Wednesday that the annual free medical outreach started 20 years ago with a view to breach inequality in the healthcare system.

She said:  “I am a practicing medical doctor in Atlanta, so, I have the calling to come back to my father’s home town and attend to the need of my people.

“So, I have found out that a lot of them are suffering from hypertension, diabetes and others. With that, I decided to start the foundation where I can equally attend to the rural communities and breach the inequality.

“We started the free medical outreach with a team of medical doctors and realised that we could not just continue giving them medicine for one month and go away. So, what happened to them in the space of eleven months?”
