Foundation commissions solar borehole at Nyanya 

 

The U – Save Foundation has commissioned a 14 tap borehole powered by solar in Area E, Nyanya, Abuja.

The executive director of U – Save Foundation and special assistant to the President on Public Health Office of the Vice President, Mrs Uju Rochas Anwukah, made this known Saturday while speaking to journalist at the commissioning of the water project.

She said the foundation basically improved access to cleaning drinking water and  sanitise communities on hygiene and sanitation  as these are the key to having a healthy life and creating healthier communities in Nigeria.

Mrs Anwukah stated that the equity and access to sanitation facilities reduce open defecation in the country.

“The foundation also provides access to clean sanitation facilities at the College of Education, Minna,” she said.

She further stated that  the foundation has renovated about 34 toilets and built 6 new ones and also initiated menstrual hygiene sensitisation in several communities and schools.

The director, Water Quality Control and Sanitation, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Mr Olu-Daniels Ibiyemi,  said the project was done to provide the needs of the people in the community in order to save lives and have access to portable drinking water.

He said U – Save Foundation collaborated with the Ministry of Water Resources to ensure that the community has water, sanitation and hygiene.
