Forum tasks influential Nigerians to invest in youth empowerment

 

President, Okun Youths For Change, Ola Adekunle Emmanuel, has charged well to do Nigerians to invest in youth empowerment in order to tackle youth restiveness and other unlawful activities associated to youth idleness in the society.

Emmanuel made the appeal in Kabba over the weekend when the forum  honoured Chief Benjamin Deinde Olowodola, a community leader as Okun Man of the Year, for single handedly building a multi million naira skills acquisition centre in Kabba to assist in  training  youth to be self reliant.

While urging influential Nigerians to be  positive mentors and role models like Chief Olowodola, the president of the forum  appealed for impacts that can help in  development of the youth , saying “what the country needs most especially now that the country is facing myriads of insecurity and anti social vices was youth engagement and empowerment.”

The youth described Banjamin Deinde Olowodola as a unique Nigerian and a change agent, adding that aside the skills acquisition centre he built, his educational scholarship for youths needs to be commended.

The president of the forum, while presenting the award at the Kabba residence of Chief Benjamin Deinde Olowodola stated that having been involved in diverse community development project, especially in educational development and his widow’s empowerment programs, distribution of educational materials for schools across Okunland, the philanthropist deserved to be honoured as a role model in the society.

He described Chief Olowodola as a rallying point to youths in terms of human capital development, stressing that what the country needs now is men and women who can sacrifice their resources to compliment government effort in providing employment to the country’s teeming unemployed youths.
