Food Security: Agro-dealers launch compliance team

The Nigeria Agro Input Dealers Association, (NAIDA), have launched the Agro-dealers’ Compliance Monitoring Team on Agricultural Input Distribution/Sales in Nigeria.

This is even as it vows to deal with any of their members found to be adult rating or involved in round-tripping in the distribution of agro-inputs in the country.

President of NAIDA, Alhaji Kabir Umar Fara in his welcome address at the launching of the Association’s ‘Compliance Monitoring Team on Agricultural Input Distribution/Sales in Nigeria’, which in Abuja on Thursday said the inauguration of this team in all the 36 States and the FCT will no doubt facilitate and ultimately create an enabling environment for sustainable agricultural development in Nigeria.

He said while he is not exonerating his members, he is also not saying that they are all devil

He said that the inauguration of the monitoring team across the country will no doubt reduce if not stop the atrocities being perpetrated by unscrupulous dealers within the Association, promising that the association is ready to self-regulate itself.

He said that NAIDA is ready to work with relevant stakeholders at both the State and National levels to ensure that good quality agricultural inputs are made available to farmers across the country.

Also speaking, the National President of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Arc Kabir Ibrahim, congratulated members of NAIDA for taking up the challenge to self regulate.

Ibrahim said, “I am glad that you are doing soul searching, you are looking at your membership, and you are promoting integrity. That is the most important element in nation building.”
