FMC Keffi issues two-week ultimatum on 21 unclaimed corpses

The management of Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Keffi has said it is giving a two weeks ultimatum to relatives of 21 unclaimed corpses in its morgue to come and claim them.

A statement signed by Miss Esther Bature, Head of Public Relations/Protocol and made available to newsmen in Keffi local government area of Nasarawa state on Tuesday.

According to Bature, the decision by the management of the centre to issue the deadline is because some of the copses have exceeded the six months permitted by law to remain in the morgue.

“They now constitute a potential health hazard for the hospital and its immediate environs.

“We therefore call on members of the public who have missing relatives to visit the hospital’s morgue for possible identification and collection of such corpses,” she said.

She said that at the expiration of the two-week deadline effective from Tuesday, November 5, 2024, the medical centre would be left with no option but to evacuate and dispose the bodies.
