FMC buys N2.6bn land for Ogun medicine varsity, teaching hospital

Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, Prof. Adewale Musa, yesterday disclosed that the Centre had acquired 17 hectares of land for development into a University of Medicine and School of Preliminary Studies, as part of its upgrade to a Teaching Hospital.
He disclosed that the land, including its Certificate of Occupancy worth N2.6 billion, was donated freely to FMC by Ogun state Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
Musa made the disclosure while fielding questions from journalists as part of activities marking his 100 days in office.
The 170 hectares of land, according him, is located along Ajebo road in Obafemi/Owode local government area of the state.
Musa said his dream of transforming FMC into a Teaching Hospital had got a boost, adding that there was partnership with international private business partner for the development of the site.
“The land is for development into a University Medicine and School of Preliminary Studies in fulfillment of part of the requirements for the upgrading of this centre into a Teaching Hospital.
“The cost of the land, including the Certificate of Occupancy, was about N2.6 billion,” he said.
