Floods: IGP visits Borno, orders reconstruction of damaged police facilities

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Monday, paid a visit to Borno state to sympathise with the government and people over floods that  wreaked havoc in some communities in the state.

A press statement by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in Abuja, said the IGP, who was accompanied by Deputy Inspectors General of Police, Finance & Administration and Operations, DIG Bala Ciroma, and DIG Ede Ayuba, respectively, as well as the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Airwing, AIG Danladi Lalas, also paid a sympathy visit to the Borno state Governor, Prof. Babagan Zulum, at the Government House where the Governor of Bauchi, Bala Mohammed and other dignitaries were present to sympathise with the Borno state government.

He said the IGP expressed healthfelt sympathy to the governor on behalf of the entire Nigeria Police Force (NPF) family, while reaffirming the commitment of the Force to providing adequate security for the residents of the state.

“The IGP also promised to set in motion machinery to repair the damaged police facilities in the affected communities,” Adejobi stated.

He noted that the state governor appreciated the IGP for his commitment towards reforming the police force, as well as his sterling leadership qualities in piloting the affairs of the NPF to discharge its duties.

Adejobi further stated that the IGP later addressed officers and men of the Borno State Command, harping on professionalism and dedication to duty towards securing the good people of the state and their property especially at trting time of the disaster.

He said the IGP encouraged them to assist the government in providing relief and restoring normalcy back to borno state.
