The national leadership of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has commiserated with the government and people of Borno state over the recent flooding that ravaged Maiduguri, the state capital, and environs.
In a statement by the national publicity secretary, Ladipo Johnson, the party noted the extent of destruction and displacement caused by the flooding and expressed sympathy to the multitude of the victims affected.
The statement quoted the NNPP national chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, as saying that the flooding was a disaster which left in its wake a monumental havoc that would be felt for a long time and requiring concerted efforts for the necessary recovery.
To this end, the party chairman called on public spirited individuals, agencies and corporate bodies to donate generously towards ameliorating the effects of the devastating flooding in Borno State.
“We felt really touched by the huge devastation caused by the terrible flooding in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital and environs which has displaced many families and destroyed vital public infrastructure.
“Surely, the monumental impact would be felt for a long time and would be a sad reminder of the havoc of nature. It is concerning to us as we offer our commiseration to the government and people of Borno state.
“This is a tough time for the government and people of the state which, of course, now need urgent support from all well-meaning individuals, agencies and corporate bodies as we call on them to donate generously towards the necessary recovery and ameliorate the hardship of the victims”, Dr Ajuji Ahmed stated.
