Flood submerged 500 houses in Ringim – LG chair

Acting chairman of Ringim local government area of Jigawa state, Aliyu Abubakar  Dangare has appealed to state and federal governments  as well as wealthy  individuals to assist  affected victims of flood disaster in the area.

He made the appeal while addressing reporters on the calamity that hit the areas by flood where over 600 houses were washed away.

He said over 500 individual farm lands were submerged in about 60 villages in the localities of the local government. Some villages in the LGA are located in places that cannot be easily reached.

He stated that several heavy machines were stationed in various areas seriously affected and people worked day and night to drain the water.

“When we started, we bought about 5000 empty bags to fill them with sand for embankment and later on we purchased 7000, and presently we bought over 10,000 bags to create embankment across the affected areas”, he stated.

He called on wealthy Nigerians to assist those affected saying, “The state government will soon come in and give assistance to augment what the LGA has done so far to reduce the hardship victims are going through.
