Flamingoes turn to God against Spain

Flamingoes midfielder Aminat Yakubu has stated that she and her teammates will be banking on God to record huge success at the on-going FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Finals in Costa Rica.

Nigeria wrapped up their impressive start in the group stage at the 4th U-17 Women’s World Cup with an emphatic 3 – 0 win over Mexico early yesterday morning to complete three wins out of three matches in La Sabana Stadium, San Jose.

Aminat commended her teammates for their performance against Mexico and dedicated her award and goal to God.
“We know God is behind us and He is going to do more greater things for us at this tournament. With God everything is going to be possible against Spain.

“It’s a good performance from my colleagues. I am happy with my teammates’ assistance and grateful to God for my award and goal,” she said.
She noted that the North Americans underrated them going into the final group game yesterday morning.

“Mexico thought they are going to beat us in today’s game, but with God and determination, we conquered them,” Aminat enthused.
Speaking on what Nigerians should expect in terms of goals from the Flamingoes against Spain, the Rivers Angels’ attacker promised that she and her teammates will put in their best to advance into the semi-finals.

We are going to step up our game in the quarter-finals to secure the semi-final berth” she reassured.
