The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has trained hundred people on the importance of tax payment and use of digital means.
The training session which took place in Kano weekend, had in attendance women and young people who were encouraged on the importance of digital means of tax payment and the responsibilities of the FIRS.
In an interview with journalists, a lead presenter during the workshop who doubled as assistant director at the FIRS, Mr Chimenka Ezeribe, said the training is aimed at equipping participants with the knowledge and tax obligation and how to fulfill those obligations.
The training tagged: “Taxation, Tax Processes and Digitalization Efforts in Relations to Tax Matters in Nigeria” also explained to participants on how tax is administered to three tiers of government -federal, states and local governments.
“To close this gaf, we initiated enlightenment programmes to reduce the ignorance of tax payers. That is why SIRS and the states boards of internal revenue organiSed programmes and events to educate the people on the payments,” he said.
