Firm plans $1.2bn fertiliser plant for Kogi

A firm, HOMAT International Merchant Nigeria Limited, has said that it had concluded plans to build a 400-tonne per day fertiliser plant in the state at the total cost of $1.2 billion.
A certain Adedayo Adeogi, who led the team to Lokoja yesterday, said they were in the state to build, operate, transfer and maintain a fertiliser plant.

According to him, the fertiliser plant would provide 215 direct jobs, 1200 support services personnel and create over 4,000 jobs during its plant’s construction, installation and pre commissioning.
In his remarks, Governor Idris Wada said his administration was ready to partner with individuals and groups who were willing to contribute to the development of the state.
Represented by his deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, he described the state as a state safe for investment, saying that the state’s strategic location and proximity to vital agricultural stakeholders “is what makes it an investment destination.”

Wada said the present administration had signed over 42 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) within the last three years, adding that the state government had instilled confidence in the minds of investors.
He commended the investors for finding the state worthy to invest, disclosed that government had been able to put in place mechanism that “allows for quick return on investment for investors as incentives.”
