The current war against terrorism is for all Nigerians and not for the military alone, Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, has said.
A statement by the spokesman of the Presidential Committee on the Abduction of Chibok Girls, Mr. Kingsley Osadolor, said Mr Badeh made the remarks yesterday when security chiefs, met members of the fact finding committee.
The statement said: “Everybody thinks this war is for the military alone; no. It is a war for all of us. Soldiers don’t fight wars on their own. It is a nation that goes to war. We shall win the war (on terror) and bring back our girls.”
According to the statement, Badeh also assured that the country would win the terror war and rescue the abducted schoolgirls safely, adding that the committee would give the nation a respite “if it is able to get to the root of the abduction saga.”
The statement said the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Ita Ekpeyong, also assured Nigerians that security services were more than capable of saving the abducted girls.
“We’ve gone beyond the lack of intelligence. If we didn’t have intelligence, we would not get the Nyanya bombers. We’ll get these (abducted) girls. If we can get the people who bombed Nyanya, we’ll get the girls.”
